Aug 4, 2019Funeral services were held on July 24, 2019 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Reverend Dr. Betty Deas Clark, worship leader.Mrs. Dumas was born on June 15, 1948 in Savannah, GA, to Mrs. Melvina Evans Black and Mr. Robert Black.She was reared by her grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Snipes Evans. Helen was educated in the public school system of Georgetown County. Since early youth, she was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where the family worshiped. Helen was united in marriage to Mr. Carl Dumas. She was gainfully employed at various hotel facilities in Myrtle Beach, SC and Georgetown, SC, respectively until poor health intervened.Surviving are her daughter, Micah Evans of Charlotte, NC; her grandson, Jaceyon Evans of Charlotte, NC; her siblings: Thomasina Reed, Melvina Rogers and Willissa Key all of Georgetown, SC, and Melvin Black of Savannah, GA. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.Amaryllis Godfrey GambleAmaryllis Godfrey Gamble died on July 17, 2019 at Beaufort Nursing and Rehab Center in Beaufort, South Carolina. Funeral services were held on July 25, 2019 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel conducted by Reverend Joe Canteen.Mrs. Gamble was born on November 22, 1944 in Georgetown, SC, the daughter of the late Mr. Jake Godfrey and Mrs. Mary Lee Godfrey. She received her early education in the Georgetown County Public School System, where she attended J.B. Beck Elementary School and Howard High School. Amaryllis was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Clifton Gamble on January 19, 1963. This union was blessed with the birth and rearing of one son.Surviving are her son, Jerome Gamble (Lular), of Myrtle Beach, SC; one brother, Kim Godfrey, of Georgetown, SC; her sister, Sarah Johnson; her granddaughters, Ciara “CC” Gamble, Melanie “Mel Mel” Gamble, and Chicora “Dana” Gamble; her step-grandsons, Samuel Cooper, Thaddeus Cooper, and Corey Cooper; six great-grandchildren, Nykhia, Kylie, Jacori, and Ocean Gamble, Cirod and Niara Weaver; eight step-great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Lillian Ellis of Georgetown, SC.
